Pottery Courses

The pottery courses in Manchester are for all levels of experience. Firing is with electric and gas kilns. The teaching studio is warm and light and is separate from the glazing area and kiln room. ( please note that there are steps between the two areas) There are regular demonstrations of pottery techniques and construction from the tutor who has 30+ years teaching and making experience.

The pottery classes are from 2.00 - 4. 30pm and 7 - 9.30pm each Tuesday, and cost £150 for eight weeks. Each term alternates with another group. Payment for eight weeks is payable in advance, and the charge for materials is extra.

Dates for spring term are March 6th for eight weeks (FULL)

Dates for May will be published in March/April, but will run from May - July

There are occasional day pottery courses between March and September. They are for those interested in trying their hand at pottery and the group are shown a specific pot which they can follow or adapt. The outcome is not guaranteed, but with reasonable attention to the basics, you will get a satisfactory result. Garden Pot Course

Friday April 27 2012 10.00 - 17.00 (Full)

From pre rolled slabs make an original planter following a demonstration of press moulding and decorative techniques. You will make one frostproof planter about 300mm in diameter.They will be fired for glazing at a later stage or can be glazed by me.

£115 inclusive of home cooked lunch, one stoneware firing and all materials. Places limited to seven. £25 deposit

Advanced Garden Pot Course

Friday 4th May 1012 10.00 - 17.00 (Full)

For students who have completed at least one 'Garden pot Course' or equivalent.

Develop more complex forms and include textural elements into the construction. More advanced methods will be demonstrated.

£115 inclusive of home cooked lunch with wine all materials tuition and one stoneware firing and refreshments £25 deposit

Tall Pots

Friday 23 March 2012 10.00 - 17.00 (One space left due to cancellation)

Make a taller than usual pot from pre- rolled slabs (up to 74cms / 29ins).

£115 inclusive of home cooked lunch, one stoneware firing and all materials. Places limited to six. £25 deposit.

Resist Techniques

Saturday 21st April 2012 10.00 - 17.00 (full)

From pre rolled slabs experiment with resist techniques. Paper, leaf and wax plus shellac and latex (if time allows)

Price includes home cooked lunch with wine; all materials; tuition; one stoneware firing and refreshments

£115 ( Deposit £25)
