The courses at Poplar Grove are for all levels of experience. Students have electric and gas kilns at their disposal. The teaching studio is warm and light and is separate from the glazing area and kiln room. The evening classes are from 7-9pm each Monday and Wednesday, and cost £10 for each session. Each term is ten weeks long, and alternates with another group. Payment for ten weeks is payable in advance, and materials and firing are extra. There are occasional 'Garden Pot' courses between April and September. They are one day long, and for those interested in plants and ceramics. Students will be shown how to make a large garden ceramics piece based on my own work. They will also be taken on a tour of plants in the garden and will have a home cooked lunch. After lunch they will be guided through the process of making their piece. Glazing will take place at another date, by enrolment on an evening course session, or by me. The price of £95 includes all materials, firing, lunch and refreshments. Raku and smoke firings also happen from time to time, as do mould making and other specialised courses.
